The Parksville-Qualicum Area

We are centrally located on pristine and wooded Vancouver Island, British Columbia, the west coast of Canada. The Island is not only renowned for its beauty but also for its tone woods: spruce and cedar.

Vancouver Island has world famous recreational areas and great local jams.  There are mountains to hike in the summer and ski in the winter, lakes to fish, boat and swim. The ocean on the east side of the Island is great for water skiing, boating, fishing and swimming. The west coast is great for surfing and whale watching. We have several fitness complexes, health spas, theme parks, golfing, special events and festivals nearby.

The local jams (numerous good ones at a number of pubs within a 30-odd mile radius) are terrific, with friendly players from top British Columbia and Canadian touring acts as drop-ins and as weekly regulars. Interested students will have many options for playing.

Although we are rural we have all amenities available nearby.  The school is ten minutes from the nearest town and 30 minutes to the nearest cities. Our Provincial Capital, the beautiful city of Victoria, is a scenic 2.5 hour drive south.

Bottom line? It's VERY nice here. The Parksville - Qualicum area defines about 40 miles of beaches on the east coast of Vancouver Island... the side facing Vancouver and the mainland. Major industry: Tourism.

The population about doubles every summer and the winters are mild--snow is rare except in the mountains where it belongs (yes, there's great skiing and snowboarding nearby...but you can usually golf on the same day you ski, and there are great local courses) and spring flowers blooming in early February is normal.

Check the links below for lots more information on the area, and picture yourself here for a while--training for a new career in this kind of environment, or maybe even coming home from a vacation with the guitar you have built it yourself.
